Even if you can’t adopt a cat, there are so many other ways to help them!

Monetary donations

Enterprises like the Ark Cat Sanctuary can’t happen without your support! We feed, house, nurse-back-to-health, and make available for adoption hundreds of cats every year. Each little life has unique requirements and it takes a great deal of help in the form of volunteers and supplies to meet those requirements. But what about paying the bills? Electricity, gasoline for transport vehicles, vaccines and medications all must be purchased and monetary donations are the way that gets done. We also have labor costs for employees who take care of the cats at PetSmart and at the Ark facility in Parks. We depend on your generosity!

Provide foster care

Our foster program was created for orphaned kittens who are too young or need special care before they can be placed in permanent homes. It opens up space at the sanctuary and allows more lives to be saved. Foster homes also give kittens a strong start in life, protecting their health and enhancing their development.

We need kitten fosters more than any other. Some need to be bottle fed while others are already weaned and just need to reach the minimum weight to be spayed or neutered. We also often have pregnant cats who need care through the birthing process and mother cats with litters of kittens in need of foster care.

The Ark provides education, supplies, and medical support for our foster families. Please call 928-613-2090 or email fosters@thearkcatsanctuary.org if you would like to learn more or offer to help.

Volunteer your time

  • Volunteer to help care for cats at the Ark. We are always short-handed, and by volunteering as little as one day a month you can facilitate saving more lives.
  • Volunteer to work at the PetSmart adoption center. This includes cleaning cages and doing adoptions. We need any help we can get to make sure things are tidy and the cats are happy.
  • One of our most important long term needs is for people with internet research skills to search out sources of funding for animal rescue operations.
  • We need help from a humane educator person to develop materials for use in school presentations. The skills needed for this are creative writing, editorial and desktop publishing know-how.
  • Presenter/Educator to go into schools to educate and win a new generation to the cause of spay-neuter and “Trap, Neuter, Return” to end the killing of homeless companion animals.
  • People to help at adoption events.

A working sanctuary is always in need of something. If you aren’t able to donate your time, we can almost always use any of the things on this list.

Pass along gently-used cat items

  • Water and food bowls
  • Toys
  • Brushes and other grooming tools
  • Pet beds

Donate household items

  • Cleaning supplies (call the sanctuary and ask what cleaning supplies we need)
  • Paper towels

Donate cat food and litter
We go through a lot of cat food and litter every day! Some food and litter can be bought in bulk at wholesale stores like Sam’s Club or Costco, other items can be found at Wal-Mart or Target. In particular, we always need:

  • NON-clumping cat litter for regular use
  • NON-CLAY litter, for post-surgery cats or very young kittens
